A total of four “black fly” drones interfered with Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in China recently, causing four of 58 flights to return to Xi’an, Chongqing, Guiyang and Mianyang airports and disrupting travel for more than 10,000 passengers.
The person in charge of Fuliu International Airport said the airport had to operate overnight due to interference from four drones.
This was a serious disruption caused by the drones.
In addition, the drones have come under scrutiny through traditional surveillance methods that cannot be officially approved.
Ohio lawmaker Rex Damschroder is concerned about the inability of law enforcement agencies to pass laws permitting the use of drones to monitor civilian potential.
“Right now police can’t go into your house without a warrant,” Damschroder told the Associated Press in August. “But drones, they can take pictures in the right side of your backyard.”
While drones bring a lot of convenience, they also pose no small threat, with drone jammers and drones that can be forced to land being one way to deal with them.
